The Utah Jazz frontcourt has suffered a major blow. According to veteran NBA insider Chris Haynes, starting center Jusuf Nurkic has sustained a partial plantar plate tear in his right second toe and is expected to miss at least four weeks, dealing a heavy setback to a team still working to build chemistry.
As a key pillar of the Jazz interior, Nurkic’s injury has drawn widespread attention. Sources indicate that while the toe tear is not season-ending, it will require at least a month of treatment and evaluation, with a specific return timetable depending on rehabilitation progress and healing.
The 32-year-old Nurkic is known for his physical post play and excellent passing ability. His absence will put the Jazz’s frontcourt rotation under severe strain. In the upcoming schedule, the coaching staff will need to adjust the lineup and find ways to fill the minutes and production left by the towering big man.
After being traded to Utah last season, Nurkic saw his year cut short due to nasal surgery, playing only 41 games. Still, he averaged a high-level 10.9 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists, establishing himself as a critical interior force for the team.
